As we gear up for another thrilling season of ballroom brilliance, let’s take a trip down memory lane to celebrate the past winners who’ve waltzed, tangoed, and cha-cha-cha’d their way to the top. We’ll also pay tribute to the talented runners-up who came oh-so-close to winning the coveted glitterball trophy.

On Saturday 16th December 2023 Ellie Leach was the latest celebrity to be crowned Strictly Come Dancing champion, with professional Vito Coppola.
With the help of professional partner Vito, Ellie beat Bobby Brazier and Layton Williams to lift the glitterball trophy and become the 2023 Champion.

Winners: BBC newsreader, Natasha Kaplinsky and Brendan Cole
Most memorable dance: Samba to ‘Love Is In The Air’ in week 5 scoring a perfect 10 from judge Arlene Phillips
Runners up: Actor, Christopher Parker and opera singer, Lesley Garrett
Series 2 – Dec 2004
Winners: Actress, Jill Halfpenny and Darren Bennett
Most memorable dance: Jive to ‘I’m Still Standing’ in week 3 scoring 35 points and a perfect 40 in the final
Runners up: Comedian and writer, Julian Clary and sportswoman, Denise Lewis
Series 3 – 2005
Winners: England cricketer, Darren Gough and Lilia Kopylova
Most memorable dance: Foxtrot to ‘Big Spender’ in the final earning their first 10 from Head Judge Len Goodman

Winners: England cricketer, Mark Ramprakash and Karen Hardy
Most memorable dance: The infamous Salsa to ‘Hot, Hot, Hot’ in week 5 where their microphones became entangled and they were allowed to have another go. The dance later earned them a perfect 40 in the final

Winners: Kelvin Fletcher and Oti Mabuse won with their exhilarating Rumba, showcasing their electrifying performances and dedication.
Runners-up: Karim Zeroual and Amy Dowden were fierce competitors, but Kelvin and Oti’s journey was truly inspiring.
Series 18 – 2020
Winners: Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse triumphed with their unforgettable Street/Commercial routine, proving that age is just a number.
Runners-up: HRVY and Janette Manrara gave them a run for their money, but Bill and Oti’s partnership was a delight to watch.
Series 19 – 2021
Winners: Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice made history with their mesmerizing Tango, becoming the first deaf contestant to win Strictly Come Dancing.
Runners-up: John Whaite and Johannes Radebe impressed the judges, but Rose and Giovanni’s emotional journey resonated with viewers.
Series 20 – 2022
Winners: Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal – the couple triumphed in the final with their couples choice to Jerusalem.
Runners-up: Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez, and Fleur East and Vito Coppola

Winners: Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola
– the couple triumphed in the final with their Couples Favourite American Smooth.
