Former Olympic athlete Montell Douglas will pair up with the magnetic Johannes Radebe. Both known for their strong presence, this powerhouse duo is expected to deliver dramatic and athletic performances. Johannes, a crowd favourite, will no doubt bring out Montell’s competitive edge.
Montell Douglas has been a massive breakout star from BBC hit revival Gladiators and will now bring that fiery energy to Strictly Come Dancing 2024.
Speaking about joining Strictly, Montell Douglas said: “Strictly ARE YOU READY, Fire is here to light up the Ballroom. Wow, I am so honoured to have been asked to do the show. It is such an amazing thing to be a part of and I can’t wait to get started.
“Hopefully, a few of my Gladiator moves will come in handy with the Tango or Paso Doble!”
Fun fact: Montell was the first British woman to compete in both Summer and Winter Olympics, making history with her bobsleigh run in Beijing 2022!
In week one Johannes and Montell (MoJo) treated us to a fabulous jazzy Foxtrot to Is You Is or Is You Ain’t My Baby? Anton called them a “match made in heaven” and Motsi said “I can’t wait to see what you’ve got to offer”. Neither can we!
A Viennese Waltz to Nobody Gets Me is Montell and Jojo’s second consecutive ballrom dance in week 4. A dreamy, romantic number that Craig called “gaw-juss” and was Anton’s favourite dance of the night. They are definitely a couple to watch.
The Love Potion worked for Johannes and Montell as they Cha, Cha, Cha’d into Halloween Week with the highest scoring Cha Cha of the series so far. Motsi called it “fiery and stunning” and Shirley said it was “simply breathtaking”.
A reminder that it’s the viewer’s votes that send the couples into the dance off as Montell and Johannes found themselves going head to head with Sam and Nikita in Icons week. Their emotive Waltz showed why we will Always Love them. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as the couple paid tribute to both Whitney Houston and Montell’s late grandfather. Anton called it “pure joy” and they scored a good 35 points. The judges chose to save Johannes and Montell unanimously. We will see them next week battling for a place at Blackpool!

Johannes Radebe and fellow professional Graziano di Prima made history with Strictly’s first individual same-sex dance, they performed together to Emeli Sande’s Shine. Viewers were moved to tears as the series made history with its first individual same-sex dance.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as Johannes and Annabel dedicated their stunning week 7 Couple’s Choice to Annabel’s late husband. The perfect song choice Wings by Birdy saw her best dance yet, Craig says it was a beautiful story, beautifully told.
Johannes has taught Annabel so well, her Hips Didn’t Lie in their sexy Samba of week 8. Annabel let herself go and impressed the judges with her new found spirit & fabulous dress!
Johannes and Annabel’s “spellbinding” American Smooth was beautiful to watch as they glided around Blackpool Tower Ballroom. The judges are impressed with how far Annabel has come in the competition.
Annabel and Johannes enjoyed their first 10 in week 10 of the competition. Anton was impressed by their Traditional Paso Doble and how Annabel has grown week on week. Craig on the other hand felt it lacked fire but still awarded an 8. Great score of 36 for the couple.
The super close dance off didn’t go their way after Shirley & Anton spotted a minor mistake. Their Viennese Waltz was simply stunning & dreamy, but unfortunately didn’t Let Them Get What They Wanted. In contrast their Salsa got us in the party spirit, a tearful Johannes paid tribute to his wonderful partner Annabel as they left the competition.
In 2022 Johannes paired with Comedian, Actor and Presenter Ellie Taylor. Johannes and Ellie T took to the dancefloor with a joyful Jive to Brown Eyed Girl in week 10. Although the dance had great characterisation in week 10 the judges were after a little more technique. Sadly this was to be their final week
In 2021 Johannes & John achieved a worthy second place, what a close final it was with both couples scoring identical marks. John and Johannes were fabulous finalists and we loved experiencing their stunning Pirates Of The Caribbean Paso one last time.
John said that it was a ‘massive honour’ to be a part of the history-making partnership. John & Johannes remain close friends.
