Oksana Platero is a Ukrainian-born ballroom and latin dancer.
In 2012 Oksana became a pro dancer on the US series Dancing with the Stars, where she danced for five seasons.
On joining Strictly Oksana said, “Words cannot describe how extremely excited I am to be joining the Strictly Come Dancing family this year. I am so fortunate to be given the opportunity. It feels so surreal and I cannot wait to get started.”
Oksana also worked as choreographer for US TV show So You Think You Can Dance.

Oksana Platero, formerly known as Oksana Dmytrenko has been dancing competitively since the age of six. In her native Ukraine, she was a Juvenile and Junior finalist before becoming National Youth Champion, an honour she held for three years consecutively.
Oksana then began to represent the United States and became a National US Champion taking first place in the Professional Rising Star Latin category. She also became the USDC World Professional Rising Star Champion.
Oksana’s celebrity partner is TV star Judge Rinder, the 38-year-old trained barrister began starring in Judge Rinder in 2014.
On joining Strictly Judge Robert Rinder said ‘Susanna Reid told me just to be nice. I looked at her slightly perplexed, thinking how on Earth am I supposed to do that?’
Jonathan and Oksana Platero are two of the strongest dancers in the industry. Oksana’s background of Latin and Ballroom, combined with Jonathan’s training in a variety of disciplines, such as acrobatics, salsa, and jazz, creates a unique and exciting form of movement that keeps everyone wanting more.
They have both worked alongside artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Michael Buble, Taylor Swift, Arianna Grande, Black Eyed Peas, and many more.
